My Heart is the debut album by American R&B singer Donell Jones. It was released by LaFace Records on June 4, 1996 in the United States. After the dissolution of his group Porché, Donell turned to songwriting and production, writing songs for R&B group Jade from their 1994 second album Mind, Body & Song as well as co-writing for Usher's self-titled debut album in that same year

Produced by Donell Jones & Kyle West. Album Where I Wanna Be. Where I Wanna Be Lyrics. I just left my baby girl a message Sayin' I won't be coming home I'd rather be alone She doesn't fully understand me Cause I'd rather leave than to cheat If she gives me some time I can be the man she needs But there's a lot of lust inside of me And we've been. together since our teenage years I really don't mean to hurt her, but I need some time To be alone

Donell Quinn Jones (born May 22, 1973) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He is most notable for the hits "U Know What's Up," "Where I Wanna Be," and his cover of Stevie Wonder's "Knocks Me Off My Feet. Jones' first studio album My Heart, was released in 1996, but he is best known for his late 1990s release of his second album Where I Wanna Be.

In 1996, Donell Jones was signed with Untouchables/LaFace Records by DJ Eddie F of Heavy D and The Boyz and released his debut album, My Heart, which included the hit cover of Stevie Wonder's 1976 ballad "Knocks Me Off My Feet". It wasn't until 1999, however, that Jones began to establish himself as a true R&B hit maker with his second album, Where I Wanna Be. The album yielded number-one hits such as the title track, "U Know What's Up" produced by Eddie F and Darren Lighty, which featured TLC member Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes. Where I Wanna Be is the second studio album by R&B singer Donell Jones, released by LaFace Records on May 29, 1999 in North America. Where I Wanna Be is his most successful album to date, having gone platinum. The album is the follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut album, My Heart (1996).

Jones' second album, this release heralded his musical maturity. The Chicago-born producer, guitarist and singer first came to prominence writing for Usher, Brownstone and 702 in the mid-90s. His debut album, 1996’s My Heart, was a good if occasionally naïve collection of originals and covers that often sounds like juvenilia in comparison to this, his largely self-penned masterpiece. Recorded in New York with Jones playing most instruments and Babyface as its executive producer, Where I Wanna Be is an elegant foray into late-night soul. The overall feel of Where I Wanna Be is that of an ambient, dreamy soul stew. It is little wonder that, with Jones’ obvious sensitivity, it became a soundtrack for seduction. The album barely made the UK Top 50, but its influence was clear on UK artists, most notably Craig David, who anglicised some of Jones’ ideas and briefly became something of a megastar.
