Glasgow Underground launches a new mix compliation series in May with the release of Optimo: The Underground Sound of Glasgow mixed by Optimo’s JD Twitch. Taking in tracks from Naum Gabo, 6th Borough Project, Funk D’Void, Lord of The Isles, Aunti Flo and Debukas to name but a few, The Underground Sound of Glasgow is true to its title in every sense

On Underground, McIvor takes us through acid, house, and techno, occasionally leaning toward '90s bleep and electro vibes, chugging disco rhythms, and Balearic sway. His mix reflects Optimo's open-yet-discerning approach to dance music, even while the tracklist consists entirely of Glasgow-centric contributors. Optimo flows unquestionably well, and it's impressive how JD Twitch has managed to assemble such a variety of talents into a cohesive work that rings with the bubbling, slightly wonky atmosphere of the best Glasgow warehouse party imaginable. It proudly, even smilingly speaks to the amazing hotbed of talent and enthusiasm right under the UK's nose, and does so without ever coming off as overly contrived.
