Young Smoke is the production alias of 18 year-old Chicago footwork producer David Davis, whose only release so far came in the form of several tracks on Planet Mu's 2011 compilation Bangs & Works Vol. 2, but who has, according a press release, already been making music for years. His previous tracks showed the young artist experimenting with synth-heavy, techno-influenced sounds, a stark difference from footwork's usual R&B and hip-hop pastiche.

He broke out big with his Planet-Mu released debut album 'Space Zone' in 2012, bringing his own melodic, spaced out and distinctive version of the normally highly-repetitive and strictly dance-orientated genre. Since his debut album he has been releasing most of his music completely independently on Bandcamp, and although the engineering levels may not always be perfect, the quality of his music is always astounding.
