Greatest Hits is a compilation album of songs by the Police, released in 1992. It is the band's second compilation album following Every Breath You Take: The Singles and the first release after the official split up in 1986. In contrast with its predecessor, it features all the singles released by the band, with the exception of "Fall Out" (the only Police's single not to be released with A&M) and "Bring on the Night" (previously released only for the French, German and American market).

All songs written by Sting it says under the 16 titles on Greatest Hits - 15 of them Top 20 hits, five of them Number 1's. As an epitaph for The Police, this simple statement of fact could hardly be bettered. For, if Sting had needed drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers more and they had depended on him less, it's just conceivable that one of the great rock groups of our time might still be functioning. If Sting had proposed 'The Dream Of The Blue Turtles' as the title of a The Police album, the other two would have laughed him out of the house. Sting, of course, has had the last laugh and Summers and Copeland will doubtless be glad of the extra revenue which this latest compilation will generate.

What an awesome band. What awesome pop classics. All your favorites are in this CD, and it's great for those of you who just love good pop, but don't want to go out to buy a whole load of music. There are other CD's that cover a good selection for The Police, and I would not say that this is perfect, but there are a few good things about getting this one. All the music is specifically songs made by The Police, and not Sting's solo stuff. Not saying that his solo work is bad, but we're talking about The Police's classics, right? If you like classic rock, you probably have this CD, and if you're a big time fan of The Police, you have these songs across all the other CDs. It's your standard greatest hits CD type of thing.
