Nubreed 10 - Oliver Schories (CD) quantity. The double CD, ‘Nubreed Oliver Schories’ sees the German DJ and producer join alumni of the benchmark album series including Steve Lawler, Sander Kleinenberg, Lee Burridge, Satoshi Tomiie, and, most recently, Habischman. Over a number of years, Bremen-born Oliver Schories has continuously impressed Global Underground, and his ever-growing legion of fans. He first connected with GU when the label offered him a remix for celebrated UK house doyen, Just Her.

Lawler occasionally breaks away from the tribal house motif, as during the concluding moments of the first set when Danny Tenaglia twists Giorgio Moroder's "From Here to Eternity" into a variation of Green Velvet's "Flash.

One cannot deny that Global Underground have been at the forefront of mix compilations for the last few years. Overall this debut mix by Lawler in the Light Out series a genuinely solid effort. I must say that disc two was the stronger of the mix in my opinion, and showed a side of Steve Lawler that should be unleashed as often as humanly possible. If you like your music on the nastier side of house, check this mix out – just hope you aren’t afraid of the dark

Talk about Steve Lawler - Nubreed Global Underground

Yeah for me Steve Lawler was never varied enough on his commercially released compilations. He was much better live though and could really rock a club. I remember him playing Lil Mo Yin Yang-Reach on the Space terrace in Ibiza with sex moans over the top and sending us into pure house heaven. The best track on here by miles is Valentino Kanzyani - Fever, I would still play that now.

Pretty dull most the way through. A mix stripped of soul in my opinion, but the tribal progressive sound was not really music you got emotionally engaged to. To me it was strictly club material, nothing more or less and over 2 hours with this stuff here left me little to desire. If it is a matter of timespan, that haven´t stood the test of time.. i dont know. maybe.Another interesting fact. Lawler did an essential mix for Tong on BBC the same year i believe. Featuring a couple tracks from here, and that was way better than this.Howell´s 002 remains one of my favourite of the Nubreed series..

Does anyone know if the acappella credited to "Tantric" that opens the second mix was pressed somewhere? I've been trying to find this for years.

This CD showed me what Tribal meant and I was converted to it for a good while. This mix really pushed the Tribal progressive sound and nearly every single track on it was released in 1999 or 2000. This was boom time for tribal house in the UK but by 2001 people wanted to come out of the dark again and the slightly lighter sound of Tech House has been more popular since then I reckon.
