Charlie Calello did the music the right way when he recorded his disco tribute to swing with his 1979 LP, "Calello Serenade" where he covered the biggest hits of the big band era with a hearty disco beat and lush orchestrations that reminded us that that had it not been for swing, disco never would have made i. Calello Serenade" was the culmination of all his abilities and he chose the disco cover of Louis Prima's 40's radiator, "Sing Sing Sing" and concentrated on the big bass drum solos that just about blew me off the dance floor. The rest of the album contained covers of Glen Miller, Arthur Freed and Hoagy Carmichael which were lovingly and competently produced. While the song peaked at in 1979, it still stands up well today because of his attention to detail.
