That's been Columbia/Legacy's modus operandi for Bitches Brew, In a Silent Way, and now Jack Johnson : put out the box set and after a suitable, cash-draining interval, cough up the remastered album alone.

is an album by Miles Davis, released on August 16, 1965 by Columbia Records. Miles Davis – trumpet. Wayne Shorter – tenor saxophone. Herbie Hancock – piano. Ron Carter – double bass. Tony Williams – drums. Irving Townsend – producer. Bob Cato – cover photography.

Milestones (CL 1193) is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter and composer Miles Davis, recorded with his "first great quintet" augmented as a sextet. It was released in 1958 by Columbia Records. Tenor saxophonist John Coltrane's return to Davis' group in 1958 coincided with the "modal phase" albums: Milestones and Kind of Blue (1959) are both considered essential examples of 1950s modern jazz.

Not a classical album – a classic album. One definition would be a recording that is both of superb quality and of enduring significance.

1961 Original Album Plus Bonus Tracks. Miles Davis - The Trumpet Master.

Biography by William Ruhlmann. The epitome of cool, an eternally evolving trumpeter who repeatedly changed the course of jazz between the 1950s and '90s.
