High Lonesome is the eighth studio album by The Charlie Daniels Band, released on November 5, 1976. Many of the tracks pay homage to pulp Western fiction. The album’s title probably refers to the 1962 Western novel by Louis L’Amour. The album is dedicated to L’Amour and James Bama. Daniels concludes his dedication poem, My sincere appreciation for the hours of honest pleasure you’ve both given me. "Billy The Kid" (Daniels, Dean, Wilson) – 5:49.

This 15-track entry in Sony's Playlist series is a best-of with a twist: it has 14 big hits by the Charlie Daniels Band between 1972's Uneasy Rider album (while not his first record - two solo offerings preceded it - it was the first by the Charlie Daniels Band) and 1989's Simple Man - the. last official album by the CDB. While cuts from the Volunteer Jam recordings are left off, there are tracks from Saddle Tramp, Fire on the Mountain, Million Mile Reflections, Full Moon, Windows, Homesick Heroes, and Me and the Boys. There's also a CD-R track tacked on at the end with.

The Essential Charlie Daniels Band. Some of the hits on this album are the following: Simple Man, Wichita Jail, Drinkin' My Baby Goodbye, Boogie Woogie Fiddle Country Blues, The Legend of Wooley Swamp, & of course his best known song The Devil Went Down to Georgia! There are 30 songs on 2 discs (15 on each disc)! One song I didn't like oh was the intro song on disc one called Then, Now & Until The End - it's a terrible song to start a album on, otherwise the rest of the album is absolutely great!

The Charlie Daniels Band is an iconic symbol of the South. Both rock and country, their sound is hard to catalogue, but easy to recognize. Unlike many performers from both genres of music, there is a genuine musical talent displayed when they take the stage with their instruments. Let’s look at The Charlie Daniels Band’s 10 best songs. 10. Carolina, I remember you. Normally, most artists do a poor, unpleasant job with songs that have talking in them. Charlie Daniels does a great job on this one, and it’s pleasant a pleasant song. There is some pretty piano in here, too. Little People

Charlie Daniels great song The Legend Of Wooley Swamp, starts out pretty heavy. The song quickly shifts gears into a Marshall Tucker Band style chorus that ends with a Charlie Daniels iconic coda. Loved playing this one over and over again in high school back in the 1970’s. Big Time intense deep party music! 5 – Uneasy Rider. The first of these four was released on the great Charlie Daniels Band Album, Fire On The Mountain.

Daniels recorded his first solo album, Charlie Daniels, in 1971 (see 1971 in country music). His first hit, the novelty song "Uneasy Rider", was from his 1973 second album, Honey in the Rock, and reached on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1974, Daniels organized the first in a series of Volunteer Jam concerts based in or around Nashville, Tennessee often playing with members of Barefoot Jerry. Except for a three-year gap in the late 1980s, these jams have continued ever since. Daniels won the Grammy Award for Best Country Vocal Performance in 1979 for "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", which reached on the charts. The following year, "Devil" became a major crossover success on rock radio stations, after its inclusion on the soundtrack for the hit movie Urban Cowboy.
