Talk about House Of House - Rushing To Paradise

Played this for the first time in a long time tonight. Can’t believe its nearly ten years old. The Harvey mix is amazing - should be revisited, sounds very fresh and no mastering issues! ( ... & The original 12” version on WWW can now be yours for far less than the original retail! Times change!)

Does anyone have this record? I've bought it but the A side (original mix) sounds really crappy, it has a lot of annoying mids. The B side is fine though. I don't know if it is intended to sound like this on vinyl or if it is a press problem with my 12".

mine too

Heya!Well I also think it sounds shitty due to a lack of (or really bad) mastering job. However this version was pressed up once again afterwards also on HOH.On that second pressing it sounds fine!I know, as I've actually bought it twice; initially as it was as close as i could get to the real thing and then as it's also been pressed properly that as well. You can identify which version you have by checking the runout grooves;HOH1 A2 it says with the bad pressing.HOH1 A3 it says at the proper repressHope this helps.

this is a well-known problem specific to the absence of mastering on this repress. The real deal is the Whatever We Want press. Not the same price though...

I sampled this version of the release on Juno and I believe that I can hear what you're talking about with the mids. The guys voice sounds hissy and there's an overall sense that the upper midrange is way maxed out. Does the other version of this record suffer from the same problem?

Rushing to paradise is a track in a league of its own, absolutely wonderful production. Everything from the quiet minimal start to the climax at around 7 minutes feels that it's been specifically placed to make you want more. One of the few tracks that I want to listen from start to end when I hear it, a feat considering it's almost 13 minutes long. The Rough half isn't quite as smooth in terms of sound, but it's got an excellent style. Lovely 80's pads, reverb-y guitars, and a slight retro sound gives it a very unique style. All in all this EP is not to be missed.
