Despite its title, Freebird: The Movie does not contain a series of variations on the title song (granted, only four versions of "Freebird" could have fit on a standard-play compact disc). Instead, it captures a number of highlights from the soundtrack of Freebird: The Movie, a documentary about Lynyrd Skynyrd's final tour. In addition to a dynamite version of "Freebird," the album contains a number of rare Skynyrd live cuts, including the first released live takes of "What's Your Name" and "That Smell.

Free Bird", or "Freebird", is a power ballad performed by American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. The song was first featured on the band's debut album in 1973 and has been included on subsequent albums, including the unfaded-ending version of the original recording (featured on Skynyrd's Innyrds).

Most bands just don't do well live, but Skynyrd never disappointed. The movie is a must watch for live videos and interviews with some of the band members.
