The new Acoustic Alchemy (with Miles Gilderdale replacing the late founding guitarist, Nick Webb, as Greg Carmichael's partner) is riding high on Higher Octave Music, but the material on this collection - part of a new GRP collection series - will always be, to the true Acoustic Alchemy fan, the real deal. AA's post-Webb sound is fancy and feisty, extremely soulful, and very attractive. Yet, there's something more intimate about the way Carmichael and Webb interacted; theirs was a union of true musical soul mates.

Acoustic Alchemy is an English smooth jazz band formed in England in the early 1980s by Nick Webb and Simon James. Acoustic Alchemy was formed around the acoustic guitars of Simon James (nylon string) and Nick Webb (steel string), often backed up by double bass, percussion, and string quartet the Violettes. The band made two albums that were unprofitable. In the mid-1980s, James left, and in the 1990s he formed Kymaera, a similar, though more Latin oriented band.

Exclusive Prime pricing. If you had the pleasure of being in the SF Bay Area in the early 90's there was an awesome light-jazz station, KKSF, that played a LOT of Acoustic Alchemy! NOW, with this wonderful MP3 I can do my own programming! Acoustic Alchemy has a striking and upbeat sound that I've not heard by any others. This may be an old album, BUT it is timeless and transcendent.
