Profile: Singer - Songwriter Former Motown recording artist Dee Harvey recorded the R&B hit "Leave Well Enough Alone" in 1991 and the associated album, Just As I Am. Harvey was born and raised in Memphis, and began singing as a pre-teen. While "Leave Well Enough Alone" gave him his star moment, most of his career was spent supporting other artists, particularly Rod Stewart, for whom Harvey was a background singer. He also worked with Aaron Neville and Dionne Warwick among others. He also had a role and sang in the Robert Townsend hit movie, The Five Heartbeats.

Dee Harvey (born Demetrius La Vell Harvey; August 24, 1965 – December 1, 2012) was an American R&B singer. He was at one time signed to Motown Label and recorded his first album, Just as I Am with Motown in 1991. Harvey was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and attended Trezevant High School Harvey also sang with Harry Belafonte in 1989
