Put out by French CBS in 1981, the definitive reissue has all of Jimmie Lunceford's recordings for Vocalion and Okeh, including two titles from 1933 and all of his 1939-1940 performances (which were cut between two long periods with Decca). The only two personnel changes that took place during 1939-1940 were important ones as trumpeters Snooky Young and Gerald Wilson joined Lunceford while arranger/trumpeter Sy Oliver (who was largely responsible for the big band's musical identity) left to join Tommy Dorsey.
