Billie Holiday - Last Recording flac album

Last Recording, originally titled Billie Holiday before her death, is the last album of Billie Holiday released in 1959, five years after the original album titled Billie Holiday was released. After the success of her album, Lady in Satin (1958), Billie Holiday wanted to record another album with arranger Ray Ellis. Ellis had switched from Columbia to MGM, so Billie switched labels also to avoid breaching her contract with Columbia.

Billie Holiday ( MG C-161) is the third 10 inch LP album of original material by jazz singer Billie Holiday, released on Clef Records in 1954 (her final album would also be given the same title, prior to being changed to Last Recording instead). Billie Holiday's "THE LAST RECORDING" often draws comparisons to her more well-known "LADY IN SATIN" since both were recorded within a year and a half before her death. Both revoke sadness and (dare I say) pity for an artist known her her revolutionary sound and style. This is Billie Holiday's last recording, made in March 1959, a little over a year after "Lady in Satin" was completed Satin. Indeed, the first six tracks are sung and played in an optimistic, bright tempo.
