At Fillmore East is the first live album by American rock band the Allman Brothers Band, and their third release overall. Produced by Tom Dowd, the album was released in July 1971 in the United States by Capricorn Records. As the title indicates, the recording took place at the New York City music venue Fillmore East, which was run by concert promoter Bill Graham

It isn't as intense as the Fillmore shows, but it does capture the group as a little-known working band with but a single album out and building a reputation - and with Dickey Betts yet to emerge as either a singer or composer and their sound still being worked out ("Statesboro Blues" gets a startlingly subdued performance, anticipating. the acoustic version of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" from the '90s recording An Evening with the Allman Brothers Band: 2nd Set)

The Allman Brothers - Statesboro Blues (Ludlow Garage) 8:16. The Allman Brothers Band - Trouble No More (Live at the Ludlow Garage 1970) 4:15. The Allman Brothers Band - I'm Gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town (Live At Ludlow Garage/1970) 9:21. The Allman Brothers Band - Mountain Jam (live at the Ludlow Garage) 44:01.

It's simply a wonder to behold such talent so early in their career. There is a somewhat annoying electronic buzzing noise throughout, but it's only noticeable on the quieter sections. I bought Live at Ludlow Garage because it is The Allman Brothers live in a Cincinnati venue before the Big Break. I wanted a document of what I used to witness in the intimacy and immediacy of this Cincy concert space. Duane was alive; Berry was alive; and the Brothers were not beaten down by the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

Ludlow Garage" captures a concert performance from the early Allman Brothers Band, recorded in Cincinnati in April 1970 but not issued until 1990. The highlight of this live album is the 45 minute version of Mountain Jam, which occupied one entire disc of the original double-vinyl release. Live at Ludlow Garage 1970 features the Allman Brothers Band in concert at a Cincinnati venue that they loved, nearly a year before their legendary Fillmore shows

On that level, the album puts facile imitators like Jeff Healey firmly in their place. Two of its strongest tracks, Shine It On and Good Clean Fun, are ferocious, full of snarly Betts-Haynes leads and the dueling kits of Trucks and Jaimoe. The languid It Ain’t Over Yet glides by on a Southern breeze, and Loaded Dice breathes fresh life into white-boy blues and gambling-metaphor lyrics. In true Southern fashion, a sense of defeatism lingers over Seven Turns. In This Article: The Allman Brothers Band.

Hey Dragoenweyr, well, not sure if your comments are totally correct but yes the ABB during that gig were definitely "slow" it was like they were stoned on something but, they played with passion if you listen to it intensely. Hoochie Coochie Man was incredible, perfect on every note as was Every Hungry Woman extremely passionate and they "hit the note" for sure. I'm sure Rick Lemker or whoever made the "electric wine" at that place it was a favorite especially to Duane. Betts loved that place and said "people would come to the garage to hear that good ole bluesy sweaty music the Allmans put out. It's all good RIP the ABB

My copy says Kevin Reeves, not Greg Calbi, remastered this reissue. Of course, it could be a last minute change between the liner notes going to press and actual remastering, but how do we know Calbi did the work? Also, do we know if Record Industry in Haarlem, Netherlands pressed this?

Horrible recording quality, sick uninspired playing and forty-four minutes of Mountain Jam in which they couldn't wait for the drum solo to run off the stage for more booze is like having teeth pulled. Duane makes little or no effort, Gregg must have been drunk on his ass and if Dickey Betts is actually there somewhere I didn't notice him. Worst night of the Allman Brothers career. What were they thinking when they released this?

to each their own; I think the 44 minute Mountain Jam blazes through canyons! Also Dreams and Dimples are sweet live versions.
