Lou Rawls - Black And Blue (1963).
He hadn't yet found the hit formula, but was cutting some superb singles. His voice had a resonance and strength developed for years on the gospel trail, and also during his work backing Sam Cooke. Even though he didn't get any hits, it's well worth the cost if you can find this album. 1 Roll 'Em Pete Lou Rawls 1:50. 2 I'd Rather Drink Muddy Water Lou Rawls 3:31. 3 How Long, How Long Blues Lou Rawls 4:19. 4 Everyday I Have the Blues Lou Rawls 2:29. 5 St James Infirmary.
