Marianne Faithfull is the debut studio album by English singer Marianne Faithfull. It was released simultaneously with her album Come My Way on 15 April 1965 by Decca Records. The double release was a result of different creative directions. While the record label pressed Faithfull to record a pop album, she wanted to record an album of folk songs.

Marianne Faithfull's first new album in a decade revealed the weathered voice she later would put to good, if harrowing, use in a series of albums for Island Records starting with Broken English in 1979. Here, that voice was smoothed out and used for pop and country material including such songs as "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight," "I'm Not Lisa," and "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels

Marianne Faithfull's beautifully ravaged voice sounded right but the country music backing provided by The Grease Band was, at first, a bit difficult to get used to but then it hit me-"Faithless" is the comforting mirror image of the beautiful but dark "Broken English". Contrast the cover image of this album with that of "Broken English" and you'll get a sense of the difference between both albums. The CD issued in 1991 for the first time featured songs from BOTH versions of the album released  . This album was first released in 1977 as Dreaming My Dreams and then reissued as Faithless the following year. It's a pure country album where the despairing cracked voice of Broken English was first displayed. And it's a brilliant album, very good selection of material.
