Paul McCartney and Wings, also known simply as Wings, were an English rock band that recorded many songs during their career. Between 1971 and 1981, they released seven studio albums, one live album, one compilation album, and twenty-seven singles. After their break-up, three more singles, another compilation album, as well as reissues of their original studio albums with added bonus tracks have been released.

Goodnight Tonight is a single by the band Wings notable for its disco-inflected sound and spirited flamenco guitar break. It peaked at number five in both the United Kingdom and United States during 1979. The track did not appear on Wings’ then-current album Back to the Egg (from which sessions this song was recorded); it was later included on the 1987 McCartney compilation, All the Best!. Goodnight Tonight began as an instrumental backing track McCartney had recorded in 1978. Needing a single for Wings to accompany the Back to the Egg album, McCartney took out the track and brought it into the studio, where the full Wings line-up completed it. Laine and Juber added electric guitars, mirroring Paul’s parts and Holly added percussion, while the whole band sang in the chorus.

The Wings Over the World tour was a series of concerts in 1975 and 1976 by the British–American rock band Wings performed in Britain, Australia, Europe, the United States and Canada. The North American leg constituted band leader Paul McCartney's first live performances there since the Beatles' final tour, in 1966, and the only time Wings would perform live in the US and Canada.

Since Paul McCartney fervently wanted to believe Wings was a real rock band, he had the group record an album or two and then took them on the road. In March of 1976 he released Wings at the Speed of Sound and launched a tour of America, following which he released Wings Over America, a triple-album set that re-created an entire concert from various venues.
