The Oregon State University Wind Ensemble is a 43-member ensemble that features the most outstanding brass, woodwind, and percussion players on campus. The focus of this ensemble is to explore new literature and perform the masterworks of the wind band ensemble genre. Recent programs have included music by such composers as Holst, Grainger, Reed, Copland, Shostakovich, and Whitacre. The band has been honored to perform at a number of special events including the regional College Band Directors National Association conference and inaugural ceremonies and concerts for Bucknell presidents. It has hosted in residence such luminaries as composers Frank Ticheli and Sam Hazo, and Broadway's Ivan Rutherford.
