The soundtrack for the 2018 American superhero film Black Panther, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and produced by Marvel Studios, consists of an original score composed by Ludwig Göransson and original songs produced by Kendrick Lamar.

The Birds" is a horror story by British writer Daphne du Maurier, first published in her 1952 collection The Apple Tree. It is the story of a farmhand, his family, and his community that are attacked by flocks of birds and seabirds in kamikaze fashion. The story is set in du Maurier's native Cornwall shortly after the end of the Second World War. By the end of the story it becomes clear that all of Britain is under aerial assault.

Future, 2 Chainz, Travis Scott, and Vince Staples mingle with Sacramento spitter Mozzy and Bay Area crew SOB X RBE. The Weeknd, Jorja Smith, and Khalid represent R&B’s shining guard.

Black Panther: The Album contains multitudes, but blesses those multitudes with a singular focus. The Ways, a breezy tropical-poolside valentine cooed by Khalid and Swae Lee, morphs seamlessly into Opps, a summit between Lamar and Vince Staples that adopts the EDM-rap bravado of Staples’s excellent 2017 album Big Fish Theory. But the crowning touch is that both guys are brazenly upstaged by Yugen Blakrok, a Johannesburg rapper whose 2013 album was called Return of the Astro-Goth. Her verse is an unexpected album highlight: Stack bodies, not figurines, Move beneath the surface, submarine, I’m half-machine, obscene with a light sword, Look inside the brain, it’s a ride in the psych ward. The album’s slower, dreamier moments keep things from getting too dense or claustrophobic.
