The Very Best Of (Alannah Myles album). The Very Best Of is a 1998 compilation album by Canadian singer-songwriter Alannah Myles, her first compilation after four studio albums. Released as a "parting gift" to Myles' former label, Atlantic Records, with whom she had released her first three studio albums, this compilation served to terminate her contract with the label.

Alannah Myles’ 85bpm awarded Akademia’s Best Pop Rock Album Of The Year 2017. Alannah Myles builds on her already impressive achievements; ’85bpm’ has the same classic potential, both in the sheer number of hit singles and its conglomerated wit for genre sensibilities. Autographed merch & more.

Produced by Tyson and Ward, Alannah Myles was her first album, and it was a huge hit in Canada, becoming the top-selling debut album in Canadian history. Black Velvet" was the first US single, and it was a massive hit, rising to in March 1990, where it stayed for two weeks. The US follow-up single was another song written by Tyson and Ward, "Love I. That song went to and was her last chart entry in America. She did have several more hits in Canada. Christopher Ward got the idea for this song when he was a VJ for the Canadian music channel MuchMusic

Produced by David Tyson. It was written in 1987 as a tribute to Elvis Presley by Myles' then-boyfriend Christopher Ward while he was on a bus of Elvis fanatics as they rode to Memphis to attend the 10th anniversary of his death. According to Fred Bronson’s book The Billboard Book of Number One Hits, on the day Myles recorded her vocals, it was a hot & humid day and she was in a basement recording studio with no air conditioning, so she sang it shirtless (in a bikini). Black Velvet was certified Gold in less than two months. It was ranked the song of 1990 by Billboard magazine.
