Come On Pilgrim is the debut mini-LP release by the American alternative rock band Pixies. Produced by Gary Smith, the album was released in September 1987 by 4AD. In March 1987, Pixies (Black Francis, guitar/lead vocals; Kim Deal, bass/vocals; Joey Santiago, guitar; David Lovering, drums), entered Boston's Fort Apache Studios with Fort Apache owner/record producer Gary Smith to record a demo tape.

Amazingly, the Pixies' 1987 debut EP, Come on Pilgrim, was compiled from the quickly, inexpensively made demo tape - paid for by Black Francis' dad - the band made at Boston's legendary Fort Apache studio soon after they formed. 4AD was so taken with the tape that they released eight of the songs as this mini-album.

Come On Pilgrim was originally issued in September 1987, its eight tracks taken (in remixed form) from the so-called Purple Tape (which contained 17 early demos). Six months later the influential debut album proper, Surfer Rosa, was issued. This includes Where Is My Mind?, which was memorably featured right at the end of David Fincher’s 1999 film, Fight Club. This anniversary release is a three disc set, since Live From The Fallout Shelter – a very early radio concert that first aired in late 1986 on on WJUL-FM in Lowell, MA – is included as a bonus disc. And Come on Pilgrim is my very favourite Pixies' album. To me it makes total sense packaging these three albums together. They are not meant to be a Pixies retrospective at all (get the massive Minotaur Box Set for the definitive retrospective - an astounding 4AD acheivement on all levels). These three albums together represent the nascent Pixies at their finest, with a live concert recording their sound at that time
