Steppenwolf sold over 25 million records worldwide, released eight gold albums and 12 Billboard Hot 100 singles, of which six were top 40 hits, including three top 10 successes: "Born to Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", and "Rock Me". Steppenwolf enjoyed worldwide success from 1968 to 1972, but clashing personalities led to the end of the core lineup. Dunhill had released an album of a collection of Steppenwolf songs titled Rest in Peace. Born to Be Wild - A Retrospective. The Millennium Collection.

Magic Carpet Ride" is a rock song written by John Kay and Rushton Moreve from the band Steppenwolf. The song was initially released on the album Steppenwolf the Second. It was the lead single from that album, peaking at in the US, and becoming the band's second-biggest hit, surpassed only by "Born to Be Wild". The single version differs noticeably from the album version with a different vocal take by Kay used for the first verse of the song and differing instrumental balances.

Well, you don't know what We can find Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free. G Close your eyes girl Bb Look inside girl C G Let the sound take you away. D D C G G D D C G G Last night I found Aladdin's lamp So I wished that I could stay But before the thing could answer me Someone came and took the lamp away. I looked Around A lousy candle's all I found. Well, you don't know what We can find Why don't you come with me little girl.

About Born to Be Wild. The 1967 Steppenwolf mega-hit. It became doubly famous as the theme song from the classic 1969 counterculture road movie Easy Rider. This made this arguably the most popular song associated with motorcycles. The American-Canadian group’s name is taken from the name of Herman Hesse’s novel. Mars Bonfire, who wrote the song, explains: I was walking down Hollywood Boulevard one day and saw a poster in a window saying ‘Born to Ride’ with a picture of a motorcycle erupting out of the earth like a volcano with all this fire around it. Around this time I had just purchased.

Steppenwolf captured the zeitgeist again with their enduring hit single 'Magic Carpet Ride', which entered the US Hot 100 on 5 October 1968. Issued in September 1968, just three months after ‘Born To Be Wild’, ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ entered the US Hot 100 on 5 October; eventually flying to No. 3 in the US charts, it became the group’s second (and last) top five entry in the US, and their longest-charting single, staying on the Hot 100 for 16 weeks. It was the product of a particularly fertile period for the group, appearing on their second album of that year, The Second, and also finding its way onto the soundtrack of the little-known Marlon Brando sexcapade, Candy, in December 1968.

Born To Be Wild' didn't stand out initially. Even the publishers at Leeds Music didn't take it as the first or second song I gave them. They got it only because I signed as a staff writer. Luckily, it stood out for Steppenwolf. It's like a fluke rather than an achievement, though. This has been covered by U2, Blue Oyster Cult, MC Shan, and The Cult. Hinder recorded this in 2007 for TNT's coverage of NASCAR. It also appears on the re-release of Hinder's album Extreme Behavior. They have also written magic carpter ride and monster, america John kay the lead singer was born in germany and raised in canada. His voice is incredible. Shoni from Saginaw, MiThank you to Melanie, who obviously has a very good taste in movies
