The Shanes - Polka Hard flac album

The second recording by the Shanes, Polka Hard boasts a higher level of production from Katrin Achinger and a more prominent role from fiddler Pascal Schubbe, but the sound remains essentially the same as that of their inaugural release - more original punk polka with attitude. The sole cover tune they attempt is Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," which is the weakest number on the album.

Polka Hard was released in 1993 and the EP These Days in 1995. Hungarian songwriter and human rights activist Benito von Gruenau hooked up with the Shanes in 1996 and they recorded Budapest Sessions and 96M Album. That album was finally released in early 2001.
