He is notable for his phrasing that sounds similar to a melodic recitation and for a mix of singing and humming the melody. He earned a strong place in the Czech pop music scene. He has been active for over 40 years.

Petr Spálený ( March 22, 1944, Praha, Czech Republic) is Czech singer, composer, musician, guitarist, flute player and drummer. He was best know as leader of his band Apollobeat and solo artist. In the early 60s he played the drums with band Crossfire, later he join band The Hippopotamuses (as singer). The Hippopotamuses was later renamed to Apollobeat.
