These four songs were recorded in spring 1967 in Copenhagen for a projected solo LP, but not released until this 2000 EP. Mac MacLeod takes an approach very much like the early folk-blues of Donovan on the acoustic songs "I Get the Blues When It Rains" and "London Town," and adds some flute and mild percussive backing for the covers of "Been on the Road So Long" (written by British folkie Alex Campbell) and Buffy Saint-Marie's famous "Codine

Mac MacLeod (born Keith MacLeod, 9 July 1941, St Albans, Hertfordshire) is an English musician who was a part of the Hertfordshire folk and blues scene from 1959 onwards. He played in St Albans alongside Mick Softley, Maddy Prior and toured with John Renbourn. Influences include Softley, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Derroll Adams, Jesse Fuller, Big Bill Broonzy, Snooks Eaglin, Reverend Gary Davis and Davey Graham. MacLeod was an early influence on Donovan, and was the bassist for the original line up of Hurdy Gurdy which also inspired the Donovan song, "The Hurdy Gurdy Man"  . Copenhagen Lites ‎(7", EP). Mac MacLeod was a peripheral but interesting part of the British folk and folk-rock scene in the '60s. He intersected with several notable artists with much higher profiles, though he himself seldom managed to put out records. He's probably most recognized (though not by many listeners) for his associations with Donovan. In 1967, he began work on a solo album that was never released. Four tracks came out more than 30 years later on the Copenhagen Lites EP, which showed, somewhat unsurprisingly, a Donovan-ish guitar/singer, playing acoustic folk-blues (on covers of London Town and Big Bill Broonzy's I Get the Blues When It Rains) and mild folk-rock with backing on versions of Buffy Sainte-Marie's Codine and Alex Campbell's Been. Soon after that, the wayward artist did a single with a band in Copenhagen, the Exploding Mushroom, coming back to England in early 1968.

Copenhagen Lites: "The story behind Mac MacLeod is a fascinating archive piece. Simon Jones, Roots Magazine, Nov 2000. The Incredible Musical Odyssey Of The Original Hurdy Gurdy Man: "Hit status was elusive for Mac MacLeod, but he had a hand in the success of others, namely Donovan, a friend he inspired. It’s easy to see what Mr Leitch may have picked up as MacLeod is the master of the folk guitar. Ugly Things one of the most influential people in my life, one of the greatest blokes I ever knew

Clan MacLeod is a Highland Scottish clan associated with the Isle of Skye. There are two main branches of the clan: the MacLeods of Harris and Dunvegan, whose chief is MacLeod of MacLeod, are known in Gaelic as Sìol Tormoid ("seed of Tormod"); the Clan MacLeod of Lewis and Raasay, whose chief is Macleod of The Lewes (Scottish Gaelic: Mac Ghille Chaluim), are known in Gaelic as Sìol Torcaill ("seed of Torcall"). Both branches claim descent from Leòd, who lived in the 13th century.
