Lucky Town is the tenth studio album by Bruce Springsteen. The album was released on March 31, 1992, the same day as the Human Touch album. Lucky Town peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, with "Better Days" (paired with Human Touch's "Human Touch") peaking at number one on the Mainstream Rock and on the Billboard Hot 100. Lucky Town has since sold over one million copies in the United States.

On March 31, 1992, Bruce Springsteen released two albums, Human Touch and Lucky Town. It was similar to what Guns N' Roses had done six months earlier with the Use Your Illusion records, but while Guns N' Roses simply split up what could have been a traditional double album into two parts, Springsteen created two separate listening experiences, with different musicians and production approaches. Human Touch was created with Los Angeles studio pros like drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist Randy Jackson, and sounded very much like an overthought studio creation. Michael Gallucci - My first inclination was to divide this new album equally between the two released records: Side A - Human Touch songs, Side B - Lucky Town. But after revisiting Human Touch, I realized why I always considered this one of Springsteen's weakest albums.

Reportedly, Bruce Springsteen recorded most of Human Touch in 1990, but left it unreleased. He might have been better off pulling a couple of the stronger songs from the earlier album, adding them to the later one (which runs less than 40 minutes), and shelving the rest

But all said, Lucky Town is also an album to which I would feel ashamed to issue a thumbs down judgement. It doesn't sound too shitty, the songs are not too way below Bruce's usual level of catchiness, it is sincere and accurately conveys his then-current state of mind - it's probably the best he could do at the moment, indeed, stuck in a safe, not-too-exciting rut of domestic happiness. At least he's not posing, or calculating, or puffing up his image (there is even an ironic song here about his own personality cult - ʽLocal Heroʼ)
