Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five recorded for Sugarhill Records, which was run by Sylvia Robinson, who was the Sylvia in Mickey & Sylvia, and the impresario behind The Sugarhill Gang. Robinson worked with Flash to select the songs for the mix, and is listed as the producer of the single. This is the definitive Grandmaster Flash song; the one the best defines his career.
