Celeste Legaspi (born March 18, 1950) is a Filipino singer and actress. Her singles and albums reached gold or platinum status during the 1970s and 1980s. She is the daughter of National Artist for Visual Arts Cesar Legaspi. She spearheaded the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), a group which aimed to promote and propagate Original Pilipino music. She is married to Nonoy Gallardo, one of the premier OPM composers.

As Time Goes By" traces the history of Manila through a vivid interplay of history and entertainment. A reception of events, songs, dances and fashions of the six exciting, drama-filled decades that passed since the Manila Hotel was established in 1912. Touching on the Roaring Twenties, The Pre-War era, the Occupation down through the fast-paced Fifties and fad-riddled Sixties ans Seventies, the musical montage takes its audience through the corridors of time in a highly absorbing, nostalgic fashion

Celeste Legaspi (born 18 March 1950) is a Filipino singer and actress. Her singles and albums reached gold or platinum status during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. She joined The Ambivalent Crowd, became a college graduate in 1971, and eventually married to Dominador 'Nonoy' Gallardo in March, 1972, who was then an advertising man. In 1972, she left The Ambivalent Crowd and joined the Up from Down Under Band as a soloist for a three-month stint at Wells Fargo. Then she became part of the Time Machine which at the time had a songstress named Didith Reyes and Anthony Castelo who would both conquer the OPM charts in the years ahead.

Celeste Legaspi (nicknamed Maricelle) is third of the five children of National Artist Cesar Legaspi and his wife who once classified as coloratura. Celeste started singing during her kindergarten years. By 1955, she started singing professionally with The Ambivalent Crowd, earning ₱25 per performance. While in college, she appeared in Show Boat as Magnolia followed by her performance as Nancy in the Philippine presentation of Oliver!. The album featured Celeste's heartwarming Filipino renditions of Mini Ripperton's Loving You, Diana Ross' Theme from Mahogany, and The Lady Is A Tramp. The impressive feat was followed by successful dinner-theater presentations in 1977 of Manila, Manila which won her an Aliw Award for Best Dinner Theater performance for that year. She also starred in Doon Po Sa Amin and Jesus Christ Superstar in 1978, each garnering Best Dinner Theater awards. Fast forward to 1969, she started singing professionally with The Ambivalent Crowd, earning P25 per performance. While in college, she appeared in Showboat as Magnolia followed by her performance as Nancy in the Philippine presentation of Oliver!. But she later confessed that her performance in Showboat scared her.

The members of the group were Pol Enriquez, Celeste Legaspi, Cynthia Patag, Gigi Escalante, Mae Cendana, Pinky Marquez, Lory Paredes Tito Saludo, Yoyong Magdaraog and Berg Villapando (lead guitar). The first musical director of the Ambivalent Crowd was noted composer Willy B. Cruz; in the mid '70s, he was succeeded by Ryan Cayabyab, then an up and coming musician

In 1988, she made a special appearance in the hit musical Katy! for the CCP’s Tanghalang Pilipino. She portrayed the role of Babae in North Diversion Road, 1988, Caridad in the zarzuela Paglipas ng Dilim, 1991, and Candida in Larawan, 1992. She has made numerous singles and long-playing albums which have reached the gold or platinum mark. The Celeste, Celeste, album produced the gold single Mamang Sorbetero, while Bagong Plaka, Lumang Kanta Vols. 1 and 2 reached the double platinum mark. Like other singers, she also appeared in several movies like Lino Brocka’s Stardoom, 1971 and Sa Kabila ng Lahat, 1991 – one of Brocka’s last films; and in Mario O’Hara’s Tatlong Ina, Isang Anak, 1987.

The Alice Reyes and Modem Dance Company de- buted at the CCP in 1970. Its modern mode immediate- ly won an artistic following and media mileage. With its CCP summer dance workshops and workshop per- formances, it soon brought together pieces from Alice Reyes, Eddie Elejar, Antonio Fabella, Gener Caringal, Rosalia Merino-Santos, Miro Zolan, Norman Walker, and Basilio; the pieces comprised its annual seasons as the CCP Dance Workshop and Company, renamed the CCP Dance Company, and later Ballet Philippines.
