Robert ''Bob'' Isele trombone soloist United stated Marine band plays Pryor's Annie Laurie.

His playing expressed a lyricism coupled with dazzling technique that was perhaps unequaled for his time. Pryor came to the Sousa's Band as trombone soloist in 1892, leaving a position as conductor of the Stanley Opera Company. He became the star attraction of Sousa's Band, also serving as assistant conductor from 1895 to 1902. In 1903, the last year he played with Sousa before resigning to form his own band, Pryor was a part of the Sousa's Band's European tour. His solo performances were most favorably received

Although Arthur Pryor's reissued recordings have cropped up piecemeal here and there on ragtime, cakewalk, and early 20th century band compilations since the LP era, shockingly few CDs have been released under his name. The first of these, Crystal's Arthur Pryor, Trombone Soloist of the Sousa Band, appeared in 1997. As the title implies, the collection focuses largely upon Pryor's slip-horn virtuosity, not only when backed by the Sousa and Pryor bands, but also by way of the intimacy associated with chamber or parlor music.

Skater's Waltz by Sousa, American Fantastie by Pryor.
