The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (BBC SSO) is a Scottish broadcasting symphony orchestra based in Glasgow. One of five full-time orchestras maintained by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), it is the oldest full-time professional radio orchestra in Scotland. The orchestra is based at City Halls in Glasgow. The BBC opened its Edinburgh studio in 1930, and decided to form its own full-time Scottish orchestra to complement BBC orchestras already established in London, Manchester and Wales

The Swan of Tuonela. 2 in D major, op. 43: I. Allegretto - Poco allegro - Tranquillo, ma poco a poco ravviva. 43: II. Tempo andante, ma rubato - Andante sostenuto. 43: IV. Finale (Allegro moderato). 43: III. Vivacissimo - Lento e suave - Largamente.

Sibelius: Symphony N. in C, O. 2 - 1. Allegro moderato by Boston Symphony Orchestra and Sir Colin Davis. 2. 30. Sibelius: Symphony N. 2 - 2. Andantino con moto, quasi allegretto. by Boston Symphony Orchestra and Sir Colin Davis. Andantino con moto, quasi allegretto by Boston Symphony Orchestra and Sir Colin Davis. The slow movement seems sluggish, as if the performers were on autopilot. With the exception of the Violin Concerto, the music is well recorded and balanced. For me, these recordings make an excellent addition to the ones I already cherish.
