Imagine Dragons give away the plot with the very title of Evolve, the 2017 sequel to 2015's sophomore set, Smoke + Mirrors. Not content to stay in one emotional or musical spot, Imagine Dragons consciously move forward on Evolve, pushing themselves into a positive place, a transition that mirrors lead singer Dan Reynolds working through a heavy depression. Some of that darkness seeped into Smoke + Mirrors, but it's not heard here

I didn’t want that to be the notion of the record, but now that we’ve gotten past it, I’m proud of what that album stands for. I’m proud of hopefully making others who deal with depression to not feel so alone and know that through work and reflection and reaching out to someone, that can make you stronger. So this record, to me, is really a celebration in a lot of ways. It’s an evolution of mind and sonics.

Exclusive Prime pricing. But the biggest disappointment is that even though the song Next to me shows as part of the Evolve album it’s not on there. This is an issue for the band. Stupid idea Imagine Dragons as it’s like a scam purchase. I like some other tracks enough to keep.
