The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson, Vol. 2 (aka The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson . Jay Jay Johnson Quintet, Vol. 2) is the title of a 1954 Blue Note Records recording by American jazz trombonist J. J. Johnson. It is also the title used by Blue Note for two d s from 1955 (12 inch LP) and 1989 (CD).

This album was originally released as two records in Blue Note's 10-inch Modern Jazz 5000 Series, as BLP 5057 (entitled The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson) and BLP 5070 (The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson, Volume 3). When reissued in the 12-inch 1500 series of LPs, the tracks from the former release were spread across two albums (The Eminent J. Johnson, Volume 1 (BLP 1505) and The.

The second of two Blue Note CDs (which differ in their content from the similarly titled LPs) contains two complete sessions that showcase trombonist . The first six titles (highlighted by "Old Devil Moon" and "Too Marvelous for Words") feature Johnson in a quintet with pianist Wynton Kelly, bassist Charles Mingus, drummer Kenny Clarke and the congas of Sabu.

All transfers from the original analog tape to digital were made at 24-bit resolution.
The original 12" LP issue of tracks #1-4 & 6 was Blue Note BLP 1505. The original 12" LP issue of tracks #5, 7 & 8 was BLP 1506; #1-6 originally issued on 10" LP 5057. Tracks #7-12 originally issued on 10" LP 5070.
