Rex Elvie Allen (December 31, 1920 – December 17, 1999) was an American film and television actor, singer and songwriter, known as "the Arizona Cowboy" and as the narrator of many Disney nature and Western productions. For his contributions to the film industry, Allen received a motion pictures star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1975, located at 6821 Hollywood Boulevard.

Rex Allen (born on December 31, 1920 in Wilcox, Arizona, USA) was an American actor, singer, and songwriter who is particularly known as the narrator in many Walt Disney nature and Western productions, he narrated more than 80 Disney films. Rex Allen was the father of country singer Rex Allen J. .He died on December 17, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona, USA, he was run over by a car.

Rex Allen was one of the better singing cowboys with a superb voice and style. He carried on the Western music tradition which was continued by his son,Rex,Jr. Both were great performers. About Rex Allen Rex was born 40 miles from Willcox, AZ and grew up playing guitar and singing at local functions and made his way to Chicago and performed on the National Barn Dance on WLS-AM. He soon found himself making successful records with a string of Country and Western hits in Hollywood for Mercury and Decca Records. Allen was gifted with a rich, pleasant voice, ideally suited for narration and was able to find considerable work as a narrator in a variety of films, especially for Walt Disney Pictures wildlife films and television shows. The work earned him the nickname, The Voice of the West. He even was provided the narration to 1973 animated film, Charlotte’s Web. Allen was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6821 Hollywood Boulevard.

A few of these recordings have appeared on other collections of Allen's transcriptions, such as Jasmine Records' Riding All Day and Soundies' The Last of the Great Singing Cowboys, but the sound quality on this CD is superior, with greater definition and presence.
