RCA introduced the 45 rpm single record in 1949 as a smaller, more durable, and higher fidelity replacement for earlier 78 rpm disks. Music singles on 45s served for decades as a low-cost entry point for young fans and turned single record sales into a prominent gauge of the popularity of songs and musicians. The durability of the single record, which was later pressed at the standard LP rpm of 33-1/3, made it suited for use as a product for children, notably in sets with a matching illustrated book.

World premiere release of complete John Barry score for 1979 Walt Disney sci-fi tale with Anthony Perkins, Maximilian Schell, Ernest Borgnine, directed by Gary Nelson. Spectacular CD production, co-branded by Walt Disney Records & Intrada, offers every note of Barry's oft-requested score in stunning digital stereo from 32-track digital masters vaulted at Disney. In keeping with the cosmological phenomenon of the title, this is John Barry in big, bold terms – there is certainly no mistaking the style, with its swirling string figures and forceful horns. Unfortunately, Disney have never seen fit to accommodate a CD release of the film's music (perhaps because the film itself was such an expensive embarrassment to the company), rendering the vinyl release an expensive collector's item.

John Barry, OBE (3 November 1933 - 30 January 2011), born John Barry Prendergast in York, UK is considered one of the "Big Four" of late 20th century film composers (the others being John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, and Henry Mancini). His family was in the cinema business, but it was during his National Service that he began performing as a musician. After taking a correspondence course and arranging for some of the bands of the day, he formed the "John Barry Seven. Barry then met Adam Faith, and composed songs and film scores on the singer's behalf.

Walt Disney Productions Story of The Black Hole.

Walt Disney’s life story shows no traces of dumb luck or free passes. Instead, it begins with a hard-working paperboy and ends with a humble film producer, who marked history once again while daydreaming on a park bench. Yet Walt Disney persevered, and in 1937, the film became the most successful motion picture of the year. It won dozens of awards and turned enough profit to pay off every bank loan and then some. Materializing magic and creating a legacy. He had successfully transformed the entertainment industry and delighted people of all ages with his extraordinary vision. It wasn’t long before Walt began plans for a new theme park.
