Two-parter "Wasted on Youth/Melted Candle" starts out with a tuneful riff that ratchets past pandemonium. Every song here is an honest-to-goodness anthem, ready to sweep you up in the throttling, last-call anxiety that permeates the band's work - even through all 10 minutes of the single repetitive riff that makes up "Secs Tape.

The Gotobeds’ Eli Kasan had the following to say about their debut album Poor People Are Revolting back in 2014 to 12XU Records: Around March 2009 I bumped into my longtime friend Cary at an all-night art gallery and we talked about finally making a band stick beyond a couple of drunken, hazy practices since I had recently lost my jo. Being from a city has great bands but is removed from most things gave us time to gestate, and if yr intelligent enough to read between the lines you know I’m covering for the fact that we were initially pretty terrible. Gavin joined quickly once he made the correct decision to move from Chicago to Pittsburgh, with myself being one of the only people he knew. As far as guitar players go we had several in our initial infancy - each players stint turned out to be a point where their lives were in some kinda transitional chaos period before they resigned themselves to the rat race.

Raucous Pittsburgh indie rock quartet the Gotobeds began casually in 2009 when guitarist Eli Kasan and drummer Cary Belback began playing together at a local rehearsal space. In keeping with their live aesthetic, they recorded their debut album, 2014's Poor People Are Revolting, in a single day. In April 2015, the Gotobeds jumped ship to Sub Pop Records. Their first album for Sub Pop, Traffic, was released in June 2016. The album included guest appearances from Tim Midyett of Silkworm and Bottomless Pit, and Joe Casey of Protomartyr.
