One of the finest vocal groups to emerge from Chicago, the Artistics had formed at High School in the late 50s. This 1967 album features the title track I’m Gonna Miss You, which scored them their biggest hit on the Brunswick label. This album defined the emerging soul sound and is regarded as one of producer Carl Davis’ Masterpieces. LP - 180 Gram Heavyweight Vinyl with Printed Inner Sleeve. Brand: Demon Records. The Artistics - I’m Gonna Miss You LP. GBP 2. 9.
Carl Davis, probably due to an increase in funds, added strings to the mix on the Artistics' Brunswick debut. While the violin section embellished their biggest hit, "I'm Gonna Miss You," and made it better, the results on other sides were less satisfying. The horns that so aptly complemented the songs on their Okeh album are missing in action.
To me, I'm going to miss you sounds very slightly more sincere and emotionally powerful. I'll miss you" concentrates on the emotion whereas "I'm going to miss you" sounds more calculating - maybe you're already thinking about the things you will be doing and missing the other person while you will be doing them. But as Sparky says, it's a very tiny difference, almost non-existent.

The group was formed in 1958 at Marshall High School in Chicago, Illinois with a line-up of Curt Thomas (lead), Larry Johnson (first tenor), Jesse Bolian (second tenor; June 8, 1941 – August 24, 1994) and Aaron Floyd (baritone bass). In 1960 Thomas left and was replaced by lead singer Robert Dobyne.
