Stéphane Grappelli (French pronunciation: ; 26 January 1908 – 1 December 1997) was a French jazz violinist who founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France with guitarist Django Reinhardt in 1934. It was one of the first all-string jazz bands. He has been called "the grandfather of jazz violinists" and continued playing concerts around the world well into his 80s.

Stéphane Grappelli (26 January 1908 – 1 December 1997) was a French jazz violinist. He was born in Paris, France to a French mother and Italian father. He got into music at a young age. When he was 12 years old, he got his own violin. Later, he met Django Reinhardt. Reinhardt was a guitarist. Together, they founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France. One the greatest violin jazz prebop player (but also pianist), Stéphane Grappelli is known for his legendary collaboration with Django Reinhardt in the '30s and '40s in their Quintette Du Hot Club De France. The group disbanded when the war broke (Grappelli went in London while Django stayed in France).
