It was originally intended to be titled Apart, with each of the two core members, Sascha Konietzko and En Esch, recording half an album and combining their work. The album ended up using only Konietzko's half, along with additional songs. It went out of print in the late 1990s and was re-released in 2006.

KMFDM supported the release of Money with two tours in 1992: the three week Aloha Jerry Brown tour in June and the two month Sucks Money tour in October and November. At the band's Boston show on October 23 at Man Ray, the show had to be temporarily halted due to damage to the floor's support beams because of.

KMFDM's fifth studio album, originally intended as a double album: album one, a solo album from Sasha, with En Esch's solo making the second piece of an album intended to be called "apart", and possibly to be the last KMFDM album, Money was reformed, and En Esch's work scraped, which eventually became "cheesy" (not just a clever name either, and. not worth mentioning any further) and Sasha's work was fine tuned, with tracks added to fill out what eventually became Money.

It was released as a single in 1992, and released as a 7" in 2008, as the ninth release of KMFDM's 24/7 series. The song charted at No. 36 in July 1992 on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs Chart. The tracks on the single are included on the singles compilation album, Extra, Vol. 1. Sascha Konietzko – vocals, programming. Günter Schulz – guitar.

This is an ideal KMFDM album for both the fan and the uninitiated alike. Led by mastermind Sasha Konietzko, the band's defining elements are on full display: staccato machine rhythms, languidly angry lead vocals, choruses of female backing vocals and lyrics full of vague calls to action " and "Bargeld" are imaginatively programmed and rigidly soulful
