Brainfeeder X. Critic Score. Or consider a donation? Daughters. You Won't Get What You Want.

Brainfeeder celebrates their 10th-anniversary with a 36 track compilation titled Brainfeeder X, featuring some of the label's finest retrospective highlights, plus a mouthwatering 22 brand new cuts from the extended family including Thundercat feat. BADBADNOTGOOD, Flying Lotus feat. BUSDRIVER, WOKE feat.

Brainfeeder X is an important collection for those who are new to the label's output and for those who want to revel in its glories. A worthy celebration of a genuinely groundbreaking label. On Brainfeeder X the label, quite rightly, takes the opportunity to celebrate those talents over two extraordinary discs of music. Disc one is a celebration of the labels "Greatest Hits". It opens with Flylo's former roommate, Teebs with "Why Like This" from his debut album, Ardour. It's a smooth introduction as droning organ chords wrap themselves around the steady thud of beats.

Without Brainfeeder, the Los Angeles beat scene may have never achieved its enduring, international level of fame.

For the last ten years, Brainfeeder has reminded the world that the future is only as far away as it needs to be. It’s less a label than an international conspiracy to conquer clichéd sounds, a glowing neon helix re-organizing the DNA of hip-hop and house, jazz and ambient, techno and soul, funk and footwork and every other strain of beat music that eludes. George Clinton technically released much of his canonical work on the Casablanca imprint, but when he signed to Brainfeeder, he seemed most spiritually at home. If it isn’t considered among the most innovative and impactful independent labels of the last decade, you probably wandered down the wrong rabbit hole on wholly ineffective hallucinogens.

Talk about Various - Brainfeeder X

Talrajas
I'm gonna be real- love Brainfeeder, but a lot of these tunes were on the 5 year anniversary compilation so it's a bit lazy in the collection/curation of stuff..
Aiata
I understand what you mean, at the same time, I can order the double compact disc locally for about sixteen bucks, so to have somewhat of a physical release of said sampler, which I have not downloaded, seems relatively interesting. Also, holding it in my hands now, this is not an afterthought. It is a well made physical release with an intelligent, I just about held back on writing brainfeeding, holding mechanism and compact discs coloured in delicious black.
Oparae
It was called the "Brainfeeder 2012 Sampler" and it was a free download.http://www.brainfeedersite.com/2012/07/30/brainfeeder-sampler/

Strange seeing as 22 of these tracks were previously unreleased! Also I don't recall there being a 5 year compilation, not one that I can find on Discogs anyway. I'm happy to be corrected though :)
