On the Rocks is an album by the Byron Band, taking its name from their singer, British rock vocalist David Byron. Despite featuring Byron and lauded guitarist Robin George the album didn't achieve commercial success. The original UK vinyl release, on Creole Records, came with a poster of the sleeve's artwork. It was first issued on CD in 1996, by the German specialist label Repertoire (Repertoire REP 431).

Reggae singer and songwriter Dennis Brown (born February 1, 1957, Kingston - † July 1, 1999, Kingston) was one of the most popular artists in the history of Jamaican recorded music. Among his hits : "Money In My Pocket", "Sitting and Watching", "Cassandra", "No More Will I Roam", "Africa", "Love Jah", "Repatriation", "Jah Can Do It", "Love And Hate", "Promised Land", "Judge Not".

Brown's first recording was "Lips of Wine" recorded for Derrick Harriott (The Musical Chariot), but this was not released initially. He then recorded for Coxsone Dodd at Studio One, and Dodd released Brown's first single, "No Man is an Island".

That, however, never applied to Dennis Brown. You can bet that when Dennis took the mic in any context, he was giving his best. And that best was almost invariably excellent, as it was on his 1981 album Foul Play. Foul Play finds Dennis in the right company; the album is co-produced by Joe Gibbs, with whom a lot of Dennis Brown’s greatest glories of the 70s were made, and Clive Hunt, a producer associated with the highest-quality roots music. The album’s opening track, ‘On The Rocks’, is throbbing electro reggae that reflects wider shifts in black music, doubtless influenced by its writer Clive Hunt’s frequent presence in New York. Dean Fraser delivers sax lines that are typical of early 80s pop, and Dennis is totally comfortable singing a song about going for a boogie (yes, he uses that word, trendy in the soul clubs of the time, though almost unheard in reggae) to shake off tough times.
