This album contains a full spectrum of Dinah's songs, from the tinny sounds of the early days to the over-stringed late '50s, but Dinah's voice always shines through. The best songs are the live sets, where Dinah and the whole crew get to take their turns in the spotlight. Although Dinah Washington sang a lot of songs going back to the early forties in her 20 year career, this is a very good and fairly generous samling including of a few of the early R&B ones. The best I could find for the cost at this time. This series also includes an even more generous sampling of Billie Holliday's songs from the American Songbook for the same low price.
