Neil Finn is a household name in Australia and has the reputation of being one of the greatest songwriters in the world. One Nil is classic Neil Finn, while collaborators Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman (part of Prince's Revolution in the early '80s) weave a subtle influence on this record too. Great pop structures swell into this album's dense layers of instrumentation and insightful lyrics. One Nil is classic songwriting at it's best. This album is definitely among Neil Finn's best work and hopefully a signal that TWT was only a minor sidestep of his consistency in producing among the best work in pop music in recent years and the future.
