The Impressions is the debut album by the American soul music group of the same name. It produced no less than six chart hit singles, including their biggest hit, the Billboard top ten pop smash "It's All Right", and the top 20 hit, "Gypsy Woman". After the departure of original Impressions lead singer Jerry Butler to a successful solo career, the other original members, brothers Arthur and Richard Brooks also left

The Never Ending Impressions continues the trend, with Mayfield writing even tighter, and sometimes more mature songs. Both of these albums showcase the early part of The Impressions career ( but not too early ) where they were beginning to really come into their own and shape the course of what was to become known as Soul Music. This 2 album collection is wonderfully done, the 1st album simply titled "The Impressions" is a collection of their hits up to that point released as singles. The Never Ending Impressions" is one of their first recordings were they were actually making an album and both are loaded with hits.

The Never Ending Impressions, the first record to boast the full collaborative power of Johnny Pate and Curtis Mayfield, pushed the idea of the trio as a supper-club act, with covers of "Satin Doll," "September Song," and "Lemon Tree" among the questionable - if not misguided - covers. The group's immense talents prevent any of these versions from being complete failures, but they sound much more assured on Mayfield originals like the ballad "I'm So Proud," a Top 20 hit on both the R&B and pop charts.
