Heavy Rotation (Anastacia album). Heavy Rotation is the fourth studio album by American singer and songwriter Anastacia, released on October 24, 2008 by Mercury Records. It is her first studio album in over four years, since her eponymous third studio album. According to Anastacia, the album title has a deeper meaning to it, referring to the fact that life rotates and you get through the "heavy" things.

However, Heavy Rotation, her first studio album in nearly five years, tones down the guitars in favor of a more eclectic collection of songs that take in everything from glossy soul-funk to acoustic pop and even techno. Written by man of the moment Ne-Yo, its promising opening funky beats and squelchy synths are let down by such a non-event of a chorus that it's hard to believe it's penned by the same man behind Rihanna's recent infectious chart hits

The cover of Anastacia's fourth album shows the blonde belter draped across a bed with her stomach and plenty of cleavage on show. If this teasing pose came from Britney or Christina it wouldn't raise an eyebrow, but from the 40-year-old diva it feels slightly awkward. Sadly, this desire to seem youthful and contemporary is a key theme on Heavy Rotation, a record that often plays like a midlife crisis in musical form. The crack team of producers includes Ne-Yo, Rodney Jerkins and Robbie Williams's old buddy Guy Chambers, and the concept is simple enough: make Anastacia relevant.
