The Creepers were an English rock music group, formed in Manchester in 1982, originally as Marc Riley and the Creepers. After being dismissed from The Fall by Mark E. Smith, Marc Riley formed his own record label (In-Tape) with Jim Khambatta, and his own band. The first single "Favourite Sister" (which featured his former bandmates Steve Hanley, Craig Scanlon and Paul Hanley) was followed up with "Jumper Clown", which poked fun at his previous band's singer.

Creepers or Brothel Creepers. These shoes clothed the feet of Teddy Boys, Punks, Rockabillys, and Techno-Pop Punk Rockers. Our creepers are as individual as the people who wear them. What's yours gonna be?
The term brothel creepers was coined from those soldiers who found themselves in darker parts of Soho and King’s Cross to embrace those seedier pastimes. Despite Clarks’ charming advert, the original crêpe-soled, rough, suede boots were initially made in the markets of Cairo and Burma and bought by soldiers to wear when off-duty. You can see elements of the original desert boot in the brothel creeper such as the rounded toe, the thick sole, the use of suede and the incorporation of only two eyelets
Brothel creepers (sometimes shortened to creepers) are a style of shoe which has thick crepe soles, often in combination with suede uppers. The brothel creeper regained popularity in the early 1970s when Malcolm McLaren sold them from his "Let it Rock" shop in London's Kings Road. Teddy Boys were the obvious customers, but the brothel creeper still proved to be popular among regular customers when McLaren and his partner Vivienne Westwood changed the shop to more rocker-oriented fashion.
