Complétez votre collection Pure. King Kong P. did sound better at 45 though, so I should have really clued in something was amiss with my assumption. I suppose though, if I'm going to insert another term like experimental into something like this, I shouldn't feel too bad. Plenty of instances occur where dj's play records at the wrong speed to fit them into the set, it's just that they sound awful most of the time.

Talk about Pure - King Kong Pt. 2 / Katharsis

Anarius
This was one of those records (along with Christoph Fringelli's "Slaughter Politics" (praxis 21) and EPC's "Don't want to lose" (fischkopf 24), all three of which I bought around the same time) which made me rethink hardcore as something which could translate as experimental in the right hands, even if on the surface it still has familiarity. The thing is, when I first listened to Katharsis, I automatically assumed it was meant to be played at 33rpm, on 45 it didn't sound right to me. Not in particular the tempo, although it is approaching rediculous levels, but at 33 I could seperate the wash of frequencies and get to grips with the only "groove", using that term loosely, of the noise beyond the kickdrum. It was a few years later that I heard the Pure cd and realised my error, but it didn't and doesn't matter, I still prefer it slower. King Kong Pt.2 did sound better at 45 though, so I should have really clued in something was amiss with my assumption. I suppose though, if I'm going to insert another term like experimental into something like this, I shouldn't feel too bad. Plenty of instances occur where dj's play records at the wrong speed to fit them into the set, it's just that they sound awful most of the time. Katharsis at 33 is pretty much bang on for me. The thing is, there are probably a few people horrified by this idea also.
Mazuzahn
one of the best records of the genre hardcore/noise there is. harder , more harsh and brutal and at the same time way more artistic then 99% of what was to come . an anthem.
Runeterror
There are few records I cheris as much as my copy of Pure's Analog Terror (DBN022) and this one goes back to the same mine, only it digs deeper. "Don't let the dead canaries bother you, natural causes." Catharsis, however you choose to spell it, just about sums it up. In the midst of a sonic cataclysm we find ourselves fearing for our lives and reflecting on everything we've done. Or maybe it's just me. I'm a sucker for the dark side.
