Roberto "Bobby" Valentín (born June 9, 1941), is a musician and salsa bandleader. He is known as "El Rey del Bajo" (King of the Bass). Valentín was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. He was taught by his father to play the guitar at a young age. When his mother died in 1947, he went to live with his older sister and was raised in the town of Coamo where he received his primary education and studied music.

The compilation's sound quality is somewhat irregular, but it includes all the tunes that Valentin and Santiago are forever associated with. This is a companion piece to Valentin's earlier compilation, Bobby's Best (1977), as both encapsulate Valentin's earlier successes.

Dame La Oportunidad" and "Son Son Charari" are fantastic tracks featuring some great salsa dura, characteristic of the golden era of salsa. Perhaps one of Marvin's all-time greatest songs, "El Jibaro y la Naturaleza", a cry about changes in traditions, customs and the slow death of Mother Nature, is also on the album. Overall, you are going to enjoy the album from start to finish. A great NON Fania record.
