Music and preparation for architecture. From a very young age, Costin Petrescu showed interest in artistic areas. However Costin, encouraged by his nanny, immediately substitute the loss of the piano with playing wooden spoons and the various family gastronomic vessels. During this period Costin is co-opted as a percussionist by the composer Iancu Dumitrescu, the founder of the contemporary music group Hyperion.

Octavian Nemescu was born in 1940, in Pascani (Romania). He studied composition with Mihail Jora at the Conservatory of Music in Bucharest, between 1956-63. Later he participated to the International Summer Master Classes in Darmstadt (Germany). He obtained the PhD in musicology in 1978, at the Conservatory in Cluj, under the guidance of Sigismund Toduta. Following 1990 he became professor at the National University of Music in Bucharest, teaching composition and tutoring postgraduate students at PhD level. Through many years, from his youth, he contributed decisively to the development of the avant-garde in Romanian music.

Nemescu studied composition with Mihail Jora, harmony with Paul Constantinescu and orchestration with Alexandru Pascanu and Anatol Vieru at the National University of Music in Bucharest from 1956-63. Much later, he earned his DMus in musicology at the G. Dima Conservatory in Cluj-Napoca in 1978.
