This Charming Man Lyrics. Punctured bicycle On a hillside desolate Will Nature make a man of me yet? When in this charming car This charming man Why pamper life's complexities When the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat? I would go out tonight But I haven't got a stitch to wear This man said, "It's gruesome That someone so handsome should care". A jumped-up pantry boy Who never knew his place He said, "Return the rings" He knows so much about these things He knows so much about these things. The Smiths' second single of 1983, This Charming Man, depicts the story of a poor boy coming in contact with the upper class but feels unwelcome due to his lack of material wealth. The ambiguity of the characters' sexuality leaves the song very open to debate and speculation about the true meaning.

This Charming Man" is a song by the English rock band the Smiths, written by guitarist Johnny Marr and singer Morrissey. Released as the group's second single in October 1983 on the independent record label Rough Trade, it is defined by Marr's jangle pop guitar riff and Morrissey's characteristically morose lyrics, which revolve around the recurrent Smiths themes of sexual ambiguity and lust.

This Charming Man (оригинал Smiths, The). On a hillside desolate. Will nature make a man of me yet ? When in this charming ca. .Why pamper life's complexity. When the leather runs smooth. On the passenger seat.

I knew that 'This Charming Man' would be our next single. This was a single-only release in 1983 and consequently did not feature on a traditional studio album. In 1989, Warner Records purchased The Smiths' back catalogue and incorporated the song into subsequent pressings of the band's self-titled debut album. In 1992, Warner reissued "This Charming Man" in the UK, where it peaked at Johnny Marr recalled to Q magazine the morning he wrote this song: "I remember waking up in a cottage just outside of Manchester that the manager Joe Moss' wife owned, and getting ready to go to Rough Trade in London.
